Geometric Shift Dress

IMG_2773It was hard for me to shift (get it?) into this trend because shapeless dresses don’t always flatter my specific body type. When I found this particular shift dress, the pattern appealed to me but I still wasn’t fully sold until I put it on. I love that it isn’t so stiff and moves with me (and the wind). The neckline is different and flattering for a bigger chest as it provides depth. Extra shape and flare are provided by the longer cut in the back. The color simplicity of black and white mixed with several abstract, geometric patterns make this dress very versatile (and FUN!). I have worn it to work, to both daytime and evening events, and I would even wear it to a dressy-casual summer wedding. I loved pairing this dress with a bright coral Hobo Bag to make it pop and incorporate a spring-time feel.IMG_2749 (1){Shift Dress, Hobo Bag (smaller version here), Cole Haan Pumps, Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Party StarterIMG_2778IMG_2770IMG_2781IMG_2786IMG_2754 (1)IMG_2836

Santa Barbara by Train

IMG_1200Last Friday, we took a wonderful little day trip down to Santa Barbara by way of the Amtrak Surfliner. It was semi-spontaneous, a lot of fun, romantic and a well-rounded, perfect Santa Barbara day. We shopped, ate, sipped on wine at outside cafés, walked around and shopped some more. Continue reading

Easter Best with Free People

IMG_0694Every Easter, I look forward to seeing people’s ‘Easter Best’ outfits. Bright, cheery, modest spring dress for women and little girls, to nice polos or button downs and khakis for boys. As far back as I can remember, I was always dressed in my Easter Sunday best in a bright, floral dress, usually made by my mom. Continue reading

Sheer Spring Kimono

Stylish Comfort to Big Sur

IMG_9818Living on the Central Coast boasts many benefits. One of the best benefits is that it’s a short, beautiful road trip to Big Sur, CA. If you’ve ever been to Big Sur, coming from the North or the South, you know the drive is part of the journey and some of the best finds are stopping for photo ops or beach explorations. Easter

DSC_0158

Happy Easter friends and family! Growing up, Easter always yielded fond memories from sneaking first peaks of any visible eggs I could see out the windows to hopefully one-up my brother in the much-anticipated hunt to wearing pretty, pink, flowery  outfits put together by my mother. I always loved our day of traditional breakfast, Easter egg hunts, Easter basket goodness, and being together enjoying Spring. Continue reading

Printed Storyteller Skirt

Edit PC210287{Michael Kors Heels, Free People Skirt (similar style – but it’s a slip here), Mossimo (Target) Button-Down, Hobo Purse, Vintage Jewelry, C.O. Bigelow Faded Pink Lip Gloss}

Have you guys heard of Hautelook.com? Well, it depletes my bank account like every other week. It’s dangerous, but it’s oh so glorious…in the, “It’s the Holidays and all I’ve been doing is buying myself stuff” (oops) kind-of-way. Continue reading

Chambray & Statement Necklace

I love the styles and clothes that accompany the Holiday Season. Layers, Scarves, boots…..oh my! As much as I adore the palette and styles of Christmas reflecting in my outfits, I enjoy modifying the traditional go-to.  Continue reading

Free People Friday

IMG_3783[Anthropologie Headband, Free People Top, Michael Kors Watch, Hobo Clutch, Free People Dress, Sam Edelman Sandals, Vera Wang Sunglasses]

After a day at work, we were headed over to our friends house to drop off garden sunflowers and Thai chilies. I had a few minutes to change, so I opted for something easy, cool (it was close to 90), comfortable, and slightly bohemian. My closet is heavily laden with Free People items and what I’ve come to love about these items is how versatile they are. You can layer and combine them, wear them on their own, dress them up or dress them down…(did you notice how I rhymed?!) I absolutely love this FP dress, but to wear it on its own, you have to be feeling excellent about your body. Not feeling entirely confident this particular day, I layered it with an ultra comfortable, baggy, bright FP top.

Hidden Things

While geocaching, (It’s a pretty fun thing to do with friends if bored or just in need for a good bike ride around parts of town you don’t normally frequent), we came across this graffiti wall which couldn’t pass up a photo-op. My outfit colors seemed to compliment the graffiti perfectly.

YOU is on the back of my shirt, not YO. Although, YO would definitely be more awesome.

{Target Shirt, Bella Dahl Shorts, Chuck Taylor shoes, Hobo purse, Cole Haan sunglasses}

I found this shirt at Target for a nighttime-lounge shirt, but have come to love it as a casual, day shirt. I typically do not like writing on shirts, especially when it says, “ME,” right on front, but the cut and style of it allow me to put that aside.

Oh and out of four geocaches, we only found one! First timers…maybe we’ll get better.

Cheers! -L
