Santa Barbara by Train

IMG_1200Last Friday, we took a wonderful little day trip down to Santa Barbara by way of the Amtrak Surfliner. It was semi-spontaneous, a lot of fun, romantic and a well-rounded, perfect Santa Barbara day. We shopped, ate, sipped on wine at outside cafés, walked around and shopped some more. The fun thing about SB is, it is a step up from our town in size, has an increased number of restaurants and bars, not to mention crucial shopping staples like Nordstrom and Anthropologie. I was able to pack all I needed to in my perfect Hobo convertible bag, including a change of clothes and some small trip necessities. Since we left for SB at 6:30 am, I knew I wanted an outfit that was comfortable and warm for the morning train down but I would still need a comfortable yet nice, cooler, outfit for the day. I packed a Free People dress (big surprise there) and strappy sandals to change into when the weather permitted. The great thing about the train is that is lets off right in SB’s new ‘Funk Zone‘ area. There are awesome buildings, shops, tasting rooms, and much more in this little new hot spot. IMG_1728

{What I packed along for the day…Podcasts are a must for any drive/trip, chocolate, because…well, doTerra serenity oil to help relax, and Burt’s Bees hand slave for ultra moisture during a getaway}IMG_1219 {Getting funky post-train in the Funk Zone…in my ‘traveling clothes’}IMG_1238{So many great things about the Funk Zone, including sidewalks like this…}
