It was hard for me to shift (get it?) into this trend because shapeless dresses don’t always flatter my specific body type. When I found this particular shift dress, the pattern appealed to me but I still wasn’t fully sold until I put it on. I love that it isn’t so stiff and moves with me (and the wind). The neckline is different and flattering for a bigger chest as it provides depth. Extra shape and flare are provided by the longer cut in the back. The color simplicity of black and white mixed with several abstract, geometric patterns make this dress very versatile (and FUN!). I have worn it to work, to both daytime and evening events, and I would even wear it to a dressy-casual summer wedding. I loved pairing this dress with a bright coral Hobo Bag to make it pop and incorporate a spring-time feel.

Chunky Cable-Knit Sweater
This sweater. This sweater has seen it all. Frigid mountains, hot countrysides and blustery beaches. I’ve been able to wear it to a myriad of events with ranging weather conditions. The neutral color allows it to be paired with endless items and the baggy shape drapes heavy and attractively. Here, it’s paired with a tight fitting cotton skirt to show off the draping feature of the sweater. Continue reading
Nautical Colors in Avila
As a frequent beach goer, I try to typically stray away from ‘playing the part’, because I’m a ‘local’ and how dare I ever look like a tourist in my own town, am I right? However, as I put this outfit together, all I could envision for the shoot was being on a pier that overlooked the ocean, with big wood pylons and planks. And with that vision coming to life, just like that, I became a tourist in my own town. Continue reading
Embroidered Off-The-Shoulder Romper
Festival Season is winding down, but that doesn’t necessarily mean festival style has to. As summer is just around the corner, a lot of festival pieces can double as beach, concert, or wine-tasting attire. Continue reading
Chasing Wildflowers
‘Tis the season for wildflower hunting! This year has brought some pretty amazing scenes around the county. So, when Easter was quickly approaching with no plans set in place, I decided it would be the perfect day for a Sunday drive to chase wildflowers. Continue reading
Spring on Mill Street
Do you tend to gravitate towards certain houses, streets, neighborhoods in cities that you classify as ‘the cutest’, ‘the most perfect’, ‘this is where I want to live’, type? I certainly do. For me, one of my favorites in San Luis Obispo, is Mill St.. Continue reading
Easter Best with Free People
Every Easter, I look forward to seeing people’s ‘Easter Best’ outfits. Bright, cheery, modest spring dress for women and little girls, to nice polos or button downs and khakis for boys. As far back as I can remember, I was always dressed in my Easter Sunday best in a bright, floral dress, usually made by my mom. Continue reading
Stylish Comfort to Big Sur
Living on the Central Coast boasts many benefits. One of the best benefits is that it’s a short, beautiful road trip to Big Sur, CA. If you’ve ever been to Big Sur, coming from the North or the South, you know the drive is part of the journey and some of the best finds are stopping for photo ops or beach explorations. Army and Navy
When I quickly assessed which jacket to grab for attending a gathering the other night, I was pleasantly surprised with my choice. More and more into the evening, I was enjoying the combination of a heavier more durable jacket with a light, airy top. The color combo kept speaking to me more throughout the night as well. I realized the deeper hues of each, complimented one another and although the peep-toed booties are a bit matchy-matchy with the jacket, they have more green overtones, creating the perfect balance. Continue reading
Sundress in Tulum
Hello all! Happy February! I can’t believe we are already one full month into 2016. Time is a tricky little thing. It’s getting colder here on the Central Coast this week (although reports say 80* for Sunday – crazy) and it’s making me ache for my December trip I took to Tulum! Continue reading
