New Year.

Happy New Year! The Holidays always seem to come and go at such a quick pace. As long as each moment with family and friends is cherished to its full potential, then no matter how quickly Santa and his Reindeer fly by, the Holidays will forever behold loving memories and flourishing spirits.

I am so grateful for all those I was able to see and spend time with, for relaxing days playing cribbage, watching sports, and cooking. Thank you 2012 for all your lessons, memories, adventures, love and laughs. Here’s to the New Year! Cheers!

Hidden Things

While geocaching, (It’s a pretty fun thing to do with friends if bored or just in need for a good bike ride around parts of town you don’t normally frequent), we came across this graffiti wall which couldn’t pass up a photo-op. My outfit colors seemed to compliment the graffiti perfectly.

YOU is on the back of my shirt, not YO. Although, YO would definitely be more awesome.

I found this shirt at Target for a nighttime-lounge shirt, but have come to love it as a casual, day shirt. I typically do not like writing on shirts, especially when it says, “ME,” right on front, but the cut and style of it allow me to put that aside.

Oh and out of four geocaches, we only found one! First timers…maybe we’ll get better.

Cheers! -L

Stars, Stripes and Polka Dots

With the Olympics fully underway and going strong, it’s safe to say my spirit and support of our country is as well. I feel proud of the men and women, boys and girls who have dedicated such hard work and time into accomplishing such great feats. Watching them preform and compete is so inspiring (and tiring). Just as much as watching their bodies do incredible things, I love seeing all their outfits and the uniforms designed for them. They’re a lot different than ever before. I’m already loving the track onesies and I adored the girls gymnastics leotards. Oh, and I seriously like their grey jackets and neon shoes for the medal ceremonies. So, this weekend I felt outfit inspirations and busted out items that I rarely wear.

These shoes. I got them in Japan circa 2007 and have maybe worn them once since. But I loved them with this outfit and these jeans. I felt patriotic but not overdone.

Beauty Must-Haves

Five Essentials.

Essentials. Wardrobe essentials, hair product essentials, kitchen and bedroom essentials…Let’s face it, essentials are essential! Too many essentials? Yeah, I thought so too. Anyway, I definitely keep my must-haves in every area and as I was grabbing one today, I thought I better share these because man, they are crucial keepers.

1. An amazing duo of tweezers that’s sure to get any teeny-tini hairs out.

These tweezers (By Tweezerman) are absolutely so precise and strong. They even come in their own leather-bound case for protection!

2. Bronzer that can double as blush AND a durable soft applicable brush.

I love Laguna Color by Nars as a blush/bronzer combo. It adds just enough shimmer and brownish hue. This brush by Bobby Brown has lasted me well over a year now with multiple washes and uses. I think I have lost a total of three brush hairs over the time I’ve had it.

3. Bobby Pins that will not and pretty much cannot stretch out or lose shape.

I have a lot of thick, curly, hair that has always required thick hair bands and lots and lots of bobby pins. I finally found my saving grace in these bobby pins. I CANNOT even tell you how amazing and strong and oh, SO wonderful they are! Not only do they come in a cute little tin with 300 pins, but they only cost me $5.00 from my local wholesale beauty store!

4. The most amazing, hydrating, refreshing clear lip gloss out there. By C.O. Bigelow.

To keep it short…I thought I lost my lip gloss while on a trip so quickly Bee-Lined to the closest Bath and Body Works to purchase another. While on the trip, I found the one “I lost” in my car and another one in my luggage. Paranoid about having it? Yes. Wonder why? Just buy your own. (I like spearmint and mentha equally!)

Those are my five essentials I definitely use every day! I would be curious and excited to hear what your daily, beauty essentials are! Please share…Happy Hump day folks!

Hobo Love

One weakness…Hobo Products.

Purses, bags, wallets, clutches-I cannot be without one! I received my first Hobo from my Mom about two years ago and have never looked back; it was the best purse product I ever owned. To this day, all of my Hobos appear as if I just bought them yesterday.

Hobos are fully lined with a vibrant fabric in an always abstract design on the inside…I always find this exciting about opening a new purse or wallet. Creative pockets and button snapped pouches are always a fun highlight to owning a Hobo. I highly recommend investing in your very own Hobo. To find some steals, if you’re very, very lucky, search in your local Nordstrom Rack!

My favorite. Coin, card, cash wallet. So perfect for any size purse!

A New Bloom

Welcome to Bloom and Birch! Summer has arrived and with it, my new blog! I hope to include all things that interest and inspire me and share it with all of you. I love summer time and always feel inspired during this time of the year. The days are longer, the weather warmer, people are happy and trips are in abundance. I look forward to sharing my adventures with you! Happy July!
