We are having our second official ‘storm’ here on the Central Coast! So happy that some weather has actually been gracing us with its presence. It’s horribly needed. But onto the other glorious things that come with rainy, cold weather – Cozy Cocktails! I love the feeling of bundling up at night with a blanket, friends and a yummy cocktail during the winter nights. Here is a tasty Spiced Bourbon Cider for those so inclined…Enjoy.

IMG_5583What You’ll Need:

pure maple syrup / all spice / cinnamon (sticks and ground) / pinches of nutmeg & ground clove / spiced apple cider (local or Trader Joes makes a good one) / bourbon / orange (juice in a pinch – pictured above) / lemon juice and twists (not pictured) / an apple

What You’ll Do:

For 4 servings:

3.5 oz Bourbon // 8 oz Apple Cider // 1 tsp Orange Juice // Juice of 1/2 a lemon // 1/8 tsp Allspice // 1/16 tsp Cinnamon // 2 Cinnamon Sticks // 1/2 an Apple // 1/2 tsp – 1 tsp Maple Syrup // Slowly heat the bourbon, apple cider, apple slices, cinnamon sticks, orange juice over a medium-low heat. Slowly add in spices. Keep at a low heat (below simmering) for about 10-15 minutes to really let the flavors meld together. Add to taste more maple syrup, spices or lemon juice. Pour over lemon twists and garnish with apple slices.
